actually, i just had to learn Java for a programming contest so its not that bad a choice, i would only have to learn the API if there is one, :P but still i prefer perl, and got the modules working, so I'm going to take that route, thanks Zephyr,

as for python, i personally find it too restrictive, it forces you to indent a certain way, etc.
