IS there a way to replace <window>\system32\hal.dll without using an xp cd and using recovery consoleā€¦ like somehow copying from my other hardrive to this one?

I don't believe so. From what I have been reading hal.dll works with your hardware. It was one of the things to help replace MS-DOS.

I am sure it is a highly running .dll, and will always be started in normal and safe modes. You can always try of course. I am not sure why you don't want to use a windows disk, but if you find you will use it, you can look here for 2 ways to fix it.

You can get any dll file here..http://www.dll-files.com/Just download it to your system 32 folder.

Are all .dll files changeable at any time? I've had to dl some .dll's before and never had a problem changing them, but just from what I read quick didn't know.
