ok so ive installed ubuntu on my box but because u cant open exe files it wont let me install my network adapter, im completly new to linux, so im having a hard time using it :( my friend told me i just need to plug the adapter in and searcch for network adapters in the device manager, is this true? i really need some help :(

If the adapter doesn't show up in the network manager, you will need drivers for it.
You can make most windows drivers work using a program called ndiswrapper. Download and install that onto ubuntu (I think there's a package for it but I'm not sure), then go find your windows drivers.
Load the windows driver file with ndiswrapper (there's instructions somewhere), and it should, with any luck, work.
