CPU Fan Error

Whenever I boot up, I get an error saying

"CPU Fan Error… Press F1 to continue."

What should I do in this case?

Here are some of my ideas

1. Buy a new CPU Fan.
2. Run a diagnostic program to see exactly whats wrong.

First of all I'd suggest checking whether it's actually working or not… Running a CPU without any fan isn't that nice ;)

It works sometimes, and other times it doesn't. It has 3 settings I can choose from, slow med fast. Most of the time slow doesn't work.

first thing, crack open the case and make sure its spinning properly and not dust clogged and stuff.
