OK I am having a problem with downloading Jack the ripper, well first off I have windows so all I can download is a "stable" version with it in a zipped folder, well when I download it and extract it there is no single program just a bunch of little ones which when i click pop up for a minute and then disappear , could anyone tell me what I should do because I keep figuiring out challenges but usually they involve a hash and I can't crack it.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

thehare

Just use the dos commands to select the wordlist

Most used commands - 'dir', cd <filename>, cd .. ( up one directory )

Just me who sees no relationship between the thread and this post?

Oh, and why do you have a picture of your mum as your avatar?[/quote]

I think he was trying to tell the OP how to navigate directories for the wordlists. Speaking of which, if I'm not mistaken, there are some tuts here in the Articles section.

You can't (and don't have to) pass CMD commands to JTR in order to load the wordlists.

It's a shame to have 2 GB ram and still have a crappy box I have found tuts on Le Google and HBH: http://www.datastronghold.com/security-articles/general-security-articles/john-the-ripper-tutorial.html http://www.osix.net/modules/article/?id=455 http://www.hellboundhackers.org/articles/746-John-the-Riper---A-noob-friendly-guide.html http://www.hellboundhackers.org/articles/470-An-easier-JTR-tutorial.html http://www.hellboundhackers.org/articles/416-John-the-ripper.html
