so i've got my shiny new external hd and it comes setup with FAT32. I can convert it to NTFS. nothings on it so nothing will be lost. any reason i should/shouldn't do this?

You should do it, yes ;). I can't think of anything bad happening when you do that :P

I just got mine yesterday, and mine came with FAT32 as well. Just look in the instructions, it will tell you how. As a reason TO format, is because with FAT32, your only allowed to upload a maximum of 4gb per file..

you should definately convert it to NTFS.it is far more superior and more secure then FAT32,but you cannot access it from FAT32, only with the proper tools.
