Didn't wanna post all this stuff in the shoutbox area bc it's a little lengthy, but here's a recent link from China's situation: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61334-2005Mar23.html Pretty crazy stuff goin' down over there.

Also, in the US, I view what the RIAA is doing as a direct attack on the freedom of the web (yes, I'm an idealist about web freedom). So, to me, they've already started trying to restrict us. They've got some funny stuff going on by way of secret warrants, too. The speech that Doctorow delivered at the http://www10.cs.rose-hulman.edu/videos.htmlesting facts. A little lengthy, but I think it's worth the time. The speakers, if their names don't ring any bells, are among those that created the web and PC.)

The govt's out there and is always trying to make itself more prevalent in the web. Total control of the web, I don't think they could ever get that. But I don't like them having as much control as they try to have as is.
