I tried to exploit a mailing list unsubscriber, I used the email address @.* and got an "Unsubscribe successful" message.

Do you think this would have unsubscribed every email address?

maybe, maybe not. the server might have taken it as a wildcard and deleted everything or it might have a glitch where if the email address dosent exist it tells you its gone. just a guess;)
