First off let me just say that I have never actually installed and configured a web server from scratch, I have a little experience with IIS and Apache but I have never actually fully set up a server. (first chance I get I'm going to set up an apache server from scratch) I know you can set a directory to be viewed by anyone or just you etc. so here are my questions. When you see this, what (or where) is the authorization needed to access a folder like this? Is this a folder that cannot be accessed over the internet period? Does it need be altered or viewed on the local drive that the directory is located on? Or can you view a folder like this by entering in certain credentials? Lets say it was an apache or IIS server what would be required to access a folder like this?
