Honeypot

Hi, I'm going to have a little hacking "duel" with a friend of a friend of mine. We're going to have the skirmish on a VPN tomorrow.

Since I have a VMware Fusion at my disposal, I'll run 2 Linuxes. One is BackTrack 4 Pre Release, the other is Slackware. I'm preparing the Slackware as a honeypot while BackTrack is unresponsive to pings, being stealthier.

Since the victory is achieved by retrieving a text file, the opponent will surely come to my system (hopefully, the honeypot) and try to find it. When the opponent tries to make an SMB connection, is it possible to take advantage of it and counterattack?

I first considered SMB relay attack which is available in Metasploit, but that requires us to be in the same domain - simply being on the same subnet is not enough. Then I thought of swapping the fake text file with a shellcode using Ettercap, but I don't know how to make it execute on the opponent's box.

Any idea is welcome.

First of all, I'm back. Sorry for contradicting my last post. I was thinking about this since my last visit, and I came to the following conclusion: I don't have to stop learning just because one guy told me not to - besides, I found everyone else saying it's fine to learn.
