Human understanding of truth is limited. Society still leans heavily on a fact-based information system. We record facts, put them away in books and websites (such as Wikipedia) and keep them there for future reference. The sun once revolved around Earth. Now, she doesn't. In the distant future, dimension X might be circling around our own dimension. New day, same problem. What is true?
I see what you're thinking. You're claiming that truths are verifiable. Checkable. Well, you're probably right about this. The truth is a verifiable fact, which will remain true until the end of time. However, our human perception of these truths changes. A lot. Human understanding of truth is not limited. Instead;
Human perception of truth is limited. Society still leans heavily on human-interpreted versions of truths. A relatively small amount of people on Earth have the power to decide what we read, how we read it and when we read it. Our perceptions of these small-amount-of-people-truths changes from day to day. Some people believe everything. Some people believe nothing. The next day, they all believe in something else.
Some people only believe in facts that they know “for sure” are true. How can they ever know what is true? If I tell you that a war has begun in South Carolina a few minutes ago, would you believe me? Probably not. Why not, I ask you. Ah, you would have been informed of this war by established media, you say. You would've seen this in the news, the papers, you would've gotten a call from your aunt who lives there, you claim. Fact is, you don't know anything until you get some input. And you know what the sad part is? You have absolutely no control over what gets inputted to you.
Or do you?
If I tell you a war has begun in South Carolina a few minutes ago, you won't believe me. Except if you live there. If you saw it with your own eyes, perhaps. You saw the smoke, heard the screams and lived through the pain. You saw war. You saw it and successfully obtained a perception of truth. Now, you can broadcast your perception to others, in attempt to inform them-, no, to influence them with your perception. This means that you control your perception. You can check facts. Deny facts. Accept facts. All of these things are controlled by YOU, and no one else. This means human perception of truth isn't limited, however, you can't check every fact. You can't percept everything.
Human truth is limited. In a society that leans heavily on facts, perceptible and broadcastable by nearly anyone, we still don't have access to much information. You know how people mock about conspiracy theories all the time, right? So, I ask you, where do these conspiracy theories come from? There must be a reason why the human race conspires and theorizes (about) everything. Consider the following explanation: we lack information. We lack truth. If there was one general truth, we wouldn't conspire, we wouldn't theorize. Not ever again. Since the human race still conspires, we can safely assume that not everyone is happy with the current explanation of things. Not everyone has all the information they seek.
Truth is, we don't know much truth. And what we know (and how we know it) is influenced by those who have the power to broadcast much and often. Newspapers. Newspapers are called newspapers because they report news on paper. They don't report truth, again, they report news. News obtained by one individual company. One team. One vision. One paper.
Where is the truth in our society? Where are the “truthpapers” these days? Blogs? Individuals. Articles? Individuals. Politicians? Individuals. All of these broadcast their own version of truth. Truth changes. The amount of theists is decreasing. Why? If the Bible is truth, the amount of theists should increase. Politic America steers left more and more. Why? People question explanations given by individuals. Why? Ask yourself questions. Check truths. Find out “why”.
I believe that in a dimension in which the sun revolves around earth, the moons are as hard to reach as God, which does exist, truth has no place. That is not our dimension. Not our truth.
Think about it. I thought, and I'm glad I did. Tomorrow, I'll think again, and I will probably be just as happy about it. Contemplating life has brought me more insight than any individual could have given me. Talk to people. Share opinions. Go do stuff.
P.S.: This article is static, thought of and typed out by one individual. It's not truth, just another human observation of something so complex we cannot hope to understand it all.

For those that will understand the direction of this article, it will prove to be a pleasant mini-trip into intellectualism and paradox / perception research. Not every article has to be about "hacking", as we are all (first and foremost) free and creative thinkers. A different solution to the same problem is what we're all about. Contradicting accepted theory on anything with viable and well-founded arguments is also what we find ourselves doing in the course of innovation. What better to argue the truth of… than truth itself? Instead of trying to write about cool topics, members of this community should write about something that they can actually contribute something new and informative to… which is the case with this article. Good job.

Wow. That was… amazing. I've actually been thinking along similar lines recently. People say numbers are an absolute. How? How is it that two comes after one? Because we say it does. 2+2=4. Why? Because we say it does. What if someone says 2+2=5 and provides 'evidence' enough for people to believe him? Then there's a new absolute, something else that will never change- just like the Earth is flat and is the center of the solar system. Everything we know is based off our (biased) perception of reality that is fed to us since birth. I know it's nothing compared to yours, but I felt like I'd say it anyway. spy, you never cease to impress me. Thank you.

Summary: we decide who/what we trust about different kinds of information and in some cases; own experiences which usually stand above all other sources.

That "lil' cunt" was me, find a dictionary and check what "good" means. I somehow doubt that spyware will be unable to sleep because somebody read what he wrote and thought it was good.

I'm sorry man, but this article didn't really impress me. I'm interested in philosophy - I really am - but this feels like a frame which needs quite a bit more filling before it's finished. I'm looking forward to reading your next article though, and I hope you'll explain your thoughts more in depth next time. Of course, this is just my opinion. Since everyone else seems to find this awesome I'm probably just a black sheep :happy:

I don't think it's a small amount of people that decide what we read, it's just that a small amount of the possibilities are registered. There are a lot of "what if" questions about objective vs subjective reality. But in the end, all energy flows according to the whims of the great magnet. Reality is cohesive. We are fools to resist the programmed illusion we call "mind"

wow, ok, i admit i clicked on your profile, and when i saw the article name i thought "here we go, another piece of …" anyway… i was wrong, deep article, true, obscure, but true, the media isnt truth, sure some of it is but as you say, its all cycled through others perception, so the true truth is questionable… your offencive, and i dont like you, but decant article, cant fault it…(even tho i wish i could >.>)

I found it to be an interesting declaration of thought. I would however like to see more depth into human perception and how it affects us as a species.

Truth is constant, even if our perception of a truth changes. The earth has revolved around the sun long enough for life on earth to develop to the point it is at today. That is truth. Man's perception of that truth, or the reality that was perceived has changed.

If the truth is shown, No need to seek anymore. It's gonna loose it's value. Exactly Like happiness, when reached, looses its value. My point here is that the truth is what we all agree about, moreover It's conventional. Just like the ancestor of species evolution. Nice Job Spy.

Its funny to think about how the future was thought of a hundred years ago, and how it turned out completely different. This article supports that theory. So what about today? We, based on the truths we perceive in our time, attempt to perceive what the future will be. One thing that we always forget is that the perception of truths will also change (as stated by the article) and therefore the future will always be unpredictable.
As much of an ass as you can be spyware, you are also a very open minded person. I know it doesn't mean much comming from me, but after finally reading this, I have gained more respect for you.
