The things that are wrong with our society and globalization

People said that i should put this up as an article so I decided to. This is my view on how the US and other devloped countries look upon our society and how they treat developing countries.

The extent that globalization contributes to economic sustainability for all peoples of the world can be debated from two perspectives. The first is that it helps promote economic sustainability and the other is that it is a negative force on sustainability for all people. Most people think that it is a positive effect, but this is a misconception. It is not good for most people of the world, in fact it is only good for those countries that have lots of money. The majority of countries with moderate or low annual incomes do not profit from globalization. The idea of globalization has done nothing for developing countries except that it has helped them fall deeper into the hole while they are exploited by transnational corporations and powerful or corrupt governments, globalization needs to be reconsidered.

Dick Cheney said that “..few people have been harmed…”, but this is an outragous lie. All he wants to do is make sure that the US remains an economic super power. He does not care about the poorer countries, nor the affect that the corporations that reside in his country have on the countries that they are exploiting. He is saying this all because he is patriotic which in this case is not a good thing when it involves the survival of the human species not just the Americans. Proof of this is that most transnational corporations reside in North America and the United States. These companies then have outlets through and around poorer countries. They bring money into the US, but they pay hardly enough to survive on, in fact some get paid less then a dollar a day.

Many people believe that free trade is a despicable thing to do to these countries that have been completely uprooted due to globalization. There are huge rallies and protests against sweat shops which are owned and operated by these big budget commercial companies. The protesters know what goes on in these sweat shops. They know all about the horrible working conditions that the workers suffer day in and day out. They know about the less then minimum wage due to the “Free Trade” which should be outlawed. They know that everyday people are beaten to death or not paid because they “Didn't meet their quota”. How can they be allowed to do this? Well that is simple, they bring the US and high economic, developed countries profits. Is it really worth it. Should we be ruthlessly working these people to death? So that we, the developed countries can have an extra movie every month, or maybe get those new tires? Definitely not.

People like George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney care about only one thing: profits. The United States is one of the richest countries in the world. Yet, it is in last place for donating a percentage of its annual GNI to help developing countries. Shouldn't it be way up at the top? Shouldn't it easily be able to donate point seven percent to help countries that do not even have a GNI of one tenth of the United States'? If people like Dick Cheney say things like “…very few people have been harmed by it[globalization]…”, and people are believing them only for the sole reason that they are disillusioned by the media then what will happen to our planet and our economy in the future. If definitely cannot get better, no it will definitely become worse when there are millions dying every year because they cannot afford to buy food or sell their wares or home grown produce.

It is clear to see that our economy should not be based on a system that has been used for far too long. What ever happened to innovating the current to make them better? We need to force the governments to stop exploiting and start helping to make our entire planet better. No longer should we use current forms of “Colonization” that was used hundreds of years ago which still to this day has had negative effects, which still to this day has made these developing countries who were used for colonization way behind. Should we wish to help restore our past problems we must first stop using this method that has done nothing but slow down progress.

To conclude, the extent that globalization help to promotes sustainable prosperity for all peoples of the world is not much. The only people that it has ever helped, and will ever help are those who live in the countries that are globalizing this world. Not the countries that are be used for globalization. History has shown us one thing. When we move into other peoples land, and tell them how to live, what to do, where to do it, they do not react well, and sometimes huge conflicts get started over it. Globalization is just a fancy word to describe a form of human parasitism. We need to find a new way of surviving based on a mutualism. Lets stop this form of globalization.

The US needs to better learn with the people in our country before we can even hope to handle people in other countries. We are trying to help poor countries, which is a GOOD thing, but the fact of the matter is that we are sinking into debt faster than any other country. How can we sustain a growing economy in another country when ours is crumbling. Pointing the finger at Bush and Cheney isn't the way to solve anything. Yeah, they might have messed the economy up a little(or a lot) but look at other people. Bill Clinton opened us up to China, and look where that has gotten us, lead poisoning our future. Maybe that was the point, maybe Clinton wanted us all to die so China could take over the world, but then again, I will save that for a conspiracy rant I might post later. This comment is getting really long, so I am going to cut it here… Until my rant appears on the article board -Beaver

Before you get all self-righteous about the US being so wealthy and giving nothing to developing countries, consider the fact that hand-outs are not the way to go if you want to stabilize the economy of a developing nation. All this "charity" does is put money into the hands of the corrupt leaders of these countries…i don't think the US should give developing countries money at all…
