Bureau warns on tainted discs

Large-capacity hard disks often used by government agencies were found to contain Trojan horse viruses, Investigation Bureau officials warned. 1,800 portable hard discs sold locally and produced by US disk-drive manufacturer Seagate Technology have been found to carry Trojan horse viruses that automatically upload to Beijing Web sites anything the computer user saves on the hard disc, the Investigation Bureau said. Password cracking, the new use for high speed GPUs

It may not be the most popular thing to consider, but high-end graphics cards contain a very powerful internal computing engine, called the GPU. UK PCs Have Least Malware

An online malware measuring tool has unexpectedly rated U.K. PCs as having the lowest level of infection in Europe. Top of the infection list for active malware was France (28.2 percent), Mexico (23.1 percent), Brazil (18 percent), the U.S. (17.8 percent), and Argentina (17.4 percent).

MediaDefender Internal Emails Go Public

Media Defender, a notorious anti piracy gang working for the MPAA, RIAA and several independent media production companies, just launched their very own video upload service called “miivi.com”. The sole purpose of the site is to trap people into uploading copyrighted material, and bust them for doing so. Unfortunately for Media Defender over 700mb of their own internal emails have been leaked to the internet in what will be a devastating blow to the company.

Laptop user arrested for "illegal log-on" to house wi-fi

A man who was spotted using his laptop in the street has been arrested on suspicion of illegally logging on to a wireless broadband connection. Two officers spotted the 39-year-old man sitting on a garden wall outside a home in Chiswick, West London UK. Click read more for further information.
