Windows Genuine DIS-Advantage

Days after Microsoft launched a new anti-piracy program, hackers have found a way to get around it. The software company\'s new program, called Windows Genuine Advantage, requires computer users to go through a process validating that they\'re running a legitimate copy of the Windows operating system before downloading any software updates except for security patches. But the check can be bypassed by entering a simple JavaScript command in the Web browser\'s address bar and hitting the \"Enter\" key. When that\'s done, the validation does not run and the user is taken directly to the download. Microsoft said it was investigating and that the glitch was not a security vulnerability. The hack appears only to work when a computer user is trying to download software through the Windows Update service. Some software, such as Microsoft\'s AntiSpyware beta, isn\'t available there but can be found elsewhere on microsoft.com. Such downloads also require validation, but the hack does not appear to work. On Friday, attempts to download the antispyware program resulted in a server error, with a message that read, \"It appears that our activation servers are not functioning properly.\" All Windows users, even those with pirated copies, can still download security patches. For any other software updates, Microsoft now requires computer users to validate that their computers aren\'t running counterfeit copies of Windows. :CLICK READ MORE:

U.S. Government goes to Hackers Convention 2005

As you may or may have not heard, one of the largest hackers conventions have just taken place a few weeks ago. Anyways, this time there was a twist at the convention. Instead of the government trying to hunt down hackers there to prosecute them, they instead went \"talent scounting\" in hopes of recruiting some hackers for the government. They hope that with these new hackers, they will be better able to track down large crimes before they happen..... Click read more for the actual article....

Police ask for power to hit terrorist websites

Chief UK police officers are asking the government for new powers that would allow them to attack terrorist websites. The list of recommendations does not detail how police would attack websites but in many cases remotely disabling a web server involves a denial of service attack (i.e. sending floods of data to overwhelm it). Police added that the measure would help police stop the spread of child abuse images on the web. The ACPO statement said: \"This power has significant benefits for counter terrorism and overlaps with other police priorities namely domestic extremism and paedophilia. This issue goes beyond national borders and requires significant international co-operation. The need for appropriate authority and warranty is implicit.\" For more information, please visit the source of this information

As you might have already known. There was much debate on whether the popular Netbux was a scam or not. Some swore it was a scam, others swore it wasnt. Today while surfing, I found that the netbux.org domain name now redirects to searchoodles.com. This site is just like netbux although it does not even mention paying anyone anything, So all of you spamming the internet with your referral code need to be ashamed of yourselves. Although I cannot TELL you that it is a scam, I am just telling you what I see. BlackAce227

(Beware)Honey Pots Getting Sticky

Spitzner and two dozen members of the Honeynet Project hope new changes to the group\'s open-source honeypot technology will help the method become much more popular among security companies and others.
