<img src='http://www.live8live.com/images/jpegs/feature-whatwewant.jpg' style='margin:5px;' align='left'> Nearly everyone here should know about <a href="http://www.live8live.com/whatsitabout/index.shtml">Live8 and the "end to world poverty". Concerts are happening all over the world to spread teh message of 3rd world debt. I hope everyone here has/will do something towards this cause.
For those of you who feel strongly about this, and want to make a difference, i urge all of you to sign the <a href="http://www.live8live.com/list/">petition!! Make a difference, and sign it NOW!
Also, this message is focused towards the UK members. The G8 summit is being held in scotland, and much support is needed to march to the summit and make the world leaders know 'the world is watching'. It would be great to see some HBH members there. For more information, please visit the <a href="http://www.live8live.com">Live8 site.

I don't think this'll accomplish as much as they plan. Africa is still too full of corrupt governments for this to be truely effective. The corrupt leaders need to go before this will work.

True. But I think this has worked well to bring africa, curruption and all, to light. Not that the whole of Africa is currupt though.

metsoc - thats exactly what they are discussing at the G8 summit. So providing Bush doesnt turn up, G8 might actually solve something :)

wolfman - Considering the countries in Africa that need the most help almost all of them have absurdly corrupt leaders. I know the whole of Africa is not corrup.
cheese - What are the leaders of the G8 going to be able to do? Invade these countries and forcibly remove their leadership? Because that has worked really well in the past.

metsoc - no, they are planning on removing debt for good non-corrupt leaders. Then they are hoping that the people of teh corrupt leaders will rise up etc etc. Im not 100% up to date with the latest plans, but thats what i heard last.

I agree with you in principle, but the definition of "corrupt" is a point of view and is relative. I think it'd be great to forgive some or all of the debt of the "good" countries. But it's the corrupt nations that need it the most, and are least likely to get it.

Your father works for Bush? Then how in the world are you a hacker? Republican Hacker is a wee bit oxymoronic, then again, there are the g00ns. The Live8 shows were great, and the audiences were so big! I really hope differences are made in the world.
