How do I get into directories

What are directories and how do I access them? Please explain to me. I'm also looking for a mentor. Thanks.

a directory is basically another name for a folder.

i.e .. c:\this_is_a_directory\

I have a similar question… How do you gain forbiddon access to directories? lol. (Oh, btw, what field of mentor are you looking? SQL, scripting, programming language, etc.)

sry for flamming, but i think that there some things you should learn before looking for a mentor. if you dont know what's a directory, what the hell are you doing on a hacking site? i'd suggest you to read some stuff at http://www.w3schools.com/ basically HTML, because no one here is going to teach u that and that is a must have. the rest i guess your mentor could teach you.

I don't think this thread warrants that type of a reponse. I mean, I will admit it's a (VERY) basic question, but at least it's not one of those, "how do u hax my school?? plx help me kthx!!!!eleventyone11!"

Not quite sure W3Schools goes over directories, but a quick run down on directories would be best summarised in an analogy.

C:\ would be similar to the country you're in, \directory\ would be similar to the city, file would be the name of the person you're looking for, and .txt would be the last name of the person you're looking for, just in case you needed some clarification on that. Any other questions, feel free to email me or PM me. But if you ask a question like the afforementioned, I have a tendency to be rather blunt in my response.
