Basic 12
I have the file and am currently running jtr, any estimates on how long this might take?
I realize what's going on so I'm not expecting it to be instant, but I had one session running for 15 minutes until i accidentally stopped it (cant restore cuz im an idiot and ran a new one)
also, i read somewhere that on linux you may need to format the .******wd file before sending it to john. has anyone ever had to do that e.g. change it from user:1V124SFsad$.2 to user:1kjdvnkj@1v:user:1:1:bin/sh:/root ?
Thanks
Oh, and I'm assuming the challenge is back up but we all know what assumptions make me

Hope that help, i cant remember how long is the process
Oh yea, i think you will need a simple wordlist tho…download a wordlist, and write john -s filename.txt -w:wordlistname.txt
Hope that helped.
easy way to crack the hash: in the run folder create a text document with the hash in user:hash then name that password then click and drag the txt file onto jtr and it should start working it will look like its not but press a button every so often and it will give you a update on how its going. it willl auto close when its cracked the hash and create some extra files in the run folder, i cant remember what has the cracked hash in but check them all and it will be obvious
