Help Basic 5

Okay this might be a nooby question, but please can anyone help me out badly.

I don't get all this * : stuff

I've read through loads of threads, and articles I just don't get it..

If anyone would want to PM me with the answer I know I shouldn't ask and I want to do it by myself but I just can't.. :(

Instead of asking for the answer why not jsut move on to an easyer one untill you do get it O.o

I just presumed you couldn't go onto next one before finishing 1
