basic twelve hash

I have it but how long did it take you guys to crack. I have had JTR on it for about twenty hours and 30 minutes yet it hasn't done it. I'm also wondering (this may be the problem) but was I supposed to include the part before the : (colon) aka s*.

Is it an MD5 hash?

No, it's DES, and it took me 9 seconds to crack it ;) (dictionary attack)

get cain's password list and run it with jtr. should take care of it for ya. you need to start accumulating more lists other than the standard jtr list. so you can get more tests in.

Much better lists than Cain's. There's one that's like 20mb.

i do have a crapload of wordlists but how do I load them into JTR. Ill look it up but its separated into like 150 different lists so lets hope its not one by one.

put the biggest wordlist in the /run folder in your JTR directory. To use your wordlist, type:

     -w:[name of wordlist including the extension]  [password file]
