john the ripper problems

hey i have john the ripper and i worked for a day but know when type

john-386 -w:endic.txt password.txt

i get and output no password hashes loaded

but the password.txt has the form

user:***************

so what the hell its in the right form why doesnt it work?

The hash your trying to crack probably isn't a real hash. IE: DES or MD-5. Post your hash or pm me to see what you got

you have to use –wordlist engdic.txt hash.txt… yeah its something liek that if i remember corectly….read the "readme" :D
