i just switched to ubuntu, and my DNS servers is empty so i cant connect to internet through that computer. anyone knows a dns server?

How do you normally connect to the internet, modem, router etc?

wireless card. linksys wpc54gx version 2 to be precise. i had a lot of trouble to get the driver and ndiswrapper etc.

now i only need the dns and i will finally be able to connect.

Try setting the DNS address to the IP of your wireless box. That's what I had to do on windows and it works fine.

Booting in XP is a good idea. The IP you'll need will be called something like "Default Gateway" or "Primary DNS". It should be something like 192.168.x.x

You can check if it's the right IP by putting it into your browser and seeing if it comes up with a login prompt for the router's admin panel.

Your DNS settings are in /etc/resolv.conf in most (if not all) Linux distros.

add nameserver 4.2.2.4 to resolve.conf. thats verizons dns. i think that should work. if it doesnt, pm me. i've got ubuntu running fine.

There is always OpenDNS. Those are great name servers.

208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220

Those are the IPs of Primary and Secondary.

I use them at home and work. also help weed out Phisers they do ;)

And to top it off they are a great team. even have AIM helpdesk support!!!
