JTR - Windows = Help me please.

I need someone with AIM or AOL to help me use JTR on a windows computer…anyone?

hey this is what i've did and it works. just go to openwall.net, and redownload the windows binary one and save it to a folder in the C:\ drive like C:\JOHN\ then go to C:\windows\system32\ copy your cmd.exe not shortcut copy paste it to C:\JOHN\ and use the cmd in JOHN and it will recognize it easier

Yeah, once you know where you downloaded it to, just browse to the executable in Explorer, and pay attention to the path. Pop open a command prompt, "cd" to that path, and go to town.

I downloaded it, moved JOHN to C:\ but in a different folder..accidently f'ing highlighted it and now I can't move, delete, rename or anything at all with it. It's completely un-usable. I don't see why the fuck I get denied access to my own damn shit on a root account.

Did you try restarting the computer? The most likely reasons for why you "get denied access to your own shit when you're an admin" are:

1. The file is in use. Maybe WinZip or WinRAR are open. Restarting just cleans the slate, and is probably easier than finding whatever has it tied up.

2. You downloaded a "tainted" package of JTR. Try a different download location… last I checked, insecure.org has a download link for it.

Don't just get pissed off… do the hard part and fix it.
