Thunderbird as a "backup system"

i want from thunderbird to download only messages which are from certain email address, other not. because i have large emails with attachements, i don't want to download it, of course i can setup filter to delete the message, but i cannot set it to not download it. can this be set? thanks.

hey there, ive been looking at the thunderbird filters and i cant see how you would do it. however, using the "disk space" section of the account properties, you can set the option

To save disk space do not download: messages larger than 50kb

not perfect, but you can set the size threshold so none of the large attachments will be downloaded (i hope). hope it helps a bit, although they should really set a "dont download" option in the filters.
