Hey.

My first post :)

I have moved up one directory at a time, now I am in /

I have tried using:

  1. cd etc/
  2. cd /etc/
  3. cd /ETC

Could someone please PM me?

its really strange because I have got to / but why can't i move anywhere else?

your changing directory to etc

if you have the / in there try it without

then reading a file, not moving to it.

i know about cat and how to move up one dir.

i have got to /

but when doing

cat /etc/password file name it kicks me out

hmmm, your going 1 place and reading 1:

so:

your moving directory to etc

when your in etc your reading the other file

Type cd followed by the name of a directory to access that directory. Keep in mind that you are always in a directory and allowed access to any directories hierarchically above or below. Ex: cd games.

so who wants to explain why 'cd ect' dosnt work when im in the '/' directory?

your very close. remember this is simulated and there is a strict way you have to do everything. try cd dir instead of dir/ or /dir/ if you know what i mean.
