One more chat content needed

So then. What's all this about you may ask. Since i have been to HBH i have saw that they used to have a IRC network but now they don't. So at the moment lets look at what chat facilities there is. PM, Forum and Guestbook. Well the whole point of IRC is for people to discuss whatever business they fancy and i learned that IRC can be very helpfull when you are stuck on something. This community needs a chat where more people (From the noob to the 1337) can discuss thier business on HBH (Not illegal stuff though). Well that's why i reccomend to put a JIRC (cgi is too demanding on resources) that links to a channel in a well popular network like Freenode so that there are no IRCops abusing the channel…… I was only suggesting so what do you think, let the comments fly ;)

HBH had jIRC while back, but it just crashed all the time, to mch for jIRC to handle i guess. But i agree IRC would be great^^

I know….. When i first came here there was a jirc where you had to log into to access the chat after you logged into hbh….. That was the most crap JIRC i have come across…..

Yeah well, im nbot sure wheter to implent it again or not, depends on if the new release has fixed those bugged that crashed it.

it may be more doable now, because we have a dedicated server, instead of the shared one from before.

if its easy to setup, lets do it.

You could have it up and running within 10 mins if you got a admin onto it !!!!!!! ;)

If no admin disagrees, il set the jIRC up? I'm allready working on it :P

Since HBH has a dedicated server, why not just install UnrealIRCD and Anope on it? I'll even volunteer to set it up if nobody else wants to.

Would be sweet :P Althou jIRC has turned into shareware, so unless anybody wants to buy a license for HBH then we can't sue that, althou there is another free Java Cient called PJirc. check it out at: http://www.pjirc.com/demo.php

Yeah well lol, that was just a test demo, since its free to downoad of course we embed it in the site xD

sorry but no can do, IRC bots and servers etc arent allowed on this server.

even though its dedicated, we still got to stick to the hosting companies rules. which also apply to dedicated servers.

I might…… I only have a 10mb connnection though. get a average of 600kbps download and i don't know my upload speed…. :S

hmm… well, i dunno what is needed for IRC server,i host my enitre server with IRC and DB and web on 24mbit so 10 should work pretty well :P

Yeah i can set it up easilly enough. If it's ok with everyone else, i will host it and set it up.

Well, why wouldn't it be okay for everyone else? Just set it up and well see if it works out or not.
