JTR MD5 cracking

Hello,

This is not a question about Other 9 (MD5 cracking), I have already cracked it, but rather about using John to crack MD5 hashes in general.

This is the passwd file I subly to john:

foo:5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592

My wordlist contains the correct word (which is "hello"). However, when I run john with "john -w:words.lst passwd", it does not find it. This is the output:

Loaded 2 passwords with no different salts (NT LM DES [48/64 4K]) guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:00 100% c/s: 819742 trying: TEACUPS - SHINLEA

When I specify the "-f:md5" option, this is the output:

Loaded 0 passwords, exiting…

What am I missing? Thanks.
