Cell phone tracking.

I heard once that Tsutomu Shimomura busted Mitnick by triangulating the cell phone that the cracker was using, based on it's signal strength as perceived from 3 different points. Can anybody confirm/deny this, or provide (technical) details regarding this technique?

The math is pretty simple, but I don't know much about cell phones, or hooking them up to computers.

Watch the 2600 documentary called Freedom Downtime. It's all about the Mitnick case and part of it explains basically what happened when Shimomura tracked him. It's also a very interesting story if you ask me.

Mitnick is the shit. I wish I grew up in the age of the phreak during the 80s and 90s. Caller ID ruined everything. JK
