Intel 4965AGN Monitor Mode Capable?

I was just wondering if there was a command, like in cmd.exe, to put my wireless card into monitor mode for wep cracking. Any ideas? I have looked it up with mixed results.

first, get your card name from the command: sudo iwconfig then for example if it was called wlan0: sudo iwconfig wlan0 monitor

now, putting some wireless cards into monitor mode will fail due to driver limitations. thats why you will hear a lot about getting patched drivers if your card falls into this category. as far as your intel card is concerned, from what i can quickly find out, is that the drivers for it cannot inject. BUT, you should be able to use the almighty ipwraw to monitor and inject.

i really recommend getting yourself backtrack and making a live cd, and boot off it, as it has all the patched drivers and tools all ready to go.

Anyway. The way to do this differs from card to card, for atheros cards you need to create a new VIF.

Anyway, check out your card, also you say cmd.exe .. this ain't happening on windows mate…
