C++ Compiler wit WINAPI

hi, does anyone know of a good C/C++ compiler which is compatible with WINAPI? i usually use dev-cpp but it seems to not display any windows when i use windows API with it?

Dev works fine with the Windows API, I know because I used it at school :p

dammit every time i use dev-cpp with winapi it compiles and links no errors then i run it and fuck-all happens. ive tried reinstalling it and everything
