Cygwin C++...anyone use it before?

I started using Cygwin C++ about 4 years ago, i had a mentor who was teaching me slowly on how to use it….unfortunately he died of a heart attack later on in the year and with him went the knowlege of how to use it effectively…im trying to pick it back up but i'm having trouble finding a list of the commands used to naigate through this program as it has several uses, the main one i want to use is the C++ compiler…if need be, i can supply the program i am using so neone who wishes to help might be able to look through it and see if anything sticks out to them….and yes, i am googling for the info but no luck so far, thats y i have posted this to expedite my search
