Rockband Drumset Project

Yesterday I was playing Rockband with one of my mates, and being that we are both drummers he mentioned he wanted to have a "free-for-all" section for drums (kind of like the fills for those who know) but as long as you want, you could save it and replay it, etc…

Well this got me thinking, the drums already work on windows, so it "should" be relatively simple to program some interface. Just to get my feet wet I want to skip the whole save, replay bits, and stick with just a simple do whatever you feel like, pause, resume, exit kind of thing.

A good example (and what made me think of trying it) is Frets on Fire, the open source version of guitar hero.

What I'm looking for here are, suggestions, other ideas, improvements, whatever. I'm still in the developing process, I'm making flowcharts with my ideas, but I'm scraping em every 5 mins with new ideas. So please let em rip with the brainstorming, I thank you in advance for your help

This would be a really cool thing if you could get it to work.

Try youtubing "rock band drums computer" there are some interesting results that you may or may not know about. Look through em and it might give you some ideas.

Happy searching :)

Isn't this just basic input->reaction programming? Of course, the whole input thing is the most complicated part.
