Hey all!

I am currently trying to learn Java Programming. I was wondering if anyone on here had any good advice as to how to get started or where to learn from? I have programming experience but I still consider myself a novice.

Now before you go posting random Google pages, I AM aware of how to search using Google :-p … The main purpose of this thread is to ask those who are experienced or on their way, if they know of any good websites that they suggest taking a look at.

What I am trying to ask here is if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thank you all for your help! It's much appreciated.

chortle.ccsu.edu/java5/cs151java.html is a pretty good site, but maybe some of it (a chapter or two) is outdated, so skip the I/O on it, but the rest is pretty good, and it also explains the fundamentals as well as what's going on behind the scenes.

i used a text book from my local college, thinking they used the best but, thats not always true. my advice is to learn from books people and practice. now im learning c++ and they are so alike that it's not even funny.
