CSS yay or nay?

So I've got a decent base in php, and I can do html/xhtml, and until now I've done table based web design. My sites all look fine, but they do take up some room. I just recently looked into css and apparently it takes up alot less room. I've researched it and I'm not sure if it would be useful to learn, it seems like some people swear by it, and others refuse to use it. Should I learn it if I plan on going into web design? I just wanted some input and opinions. thnx in advance

CSS owns. I'm not very good at it and I can already say that :p

It's amazing how much better it'll make your site, sort of hold it together; and it just pwns when you can code your site 1/4 faster because you don't have to manually modify everything individually; let CSS do the work for you!

yea… CSS is just.. Great.. It's pretty fundamental in making a site look all perty, without taking hours and hours to code every page up.
