The fun new german law make almost anything even related to hacking TOTALLY illegal. For instance… the law states that just owning linux could be a crime since most distros come with NMAP. Man of the top security people in germany are pulling the POC code down.

Hopefully you don't live in germany.

Security advisors are forced to do their work elsewhere. Almost anyone who works with computers can't do his/her work anymore. I'm NOT going to live in Germany..

this thing is bullshit man they really need to revising the law. what this mean that if i own Win XP this is illegal because i use the **telnet ** command from the cmd to hack my friend router?

From this point of view anything is illegal.

these laws make no sense at all… firefox would then also be an hacking tool :P, the govnerments does clearly not know what hacking is, and are paranoid. Or maybe they elevated their privilege to bust any skiddie they want :P

Old news.

No freaking chance those laws stand a chance. There WILL be attacks on german websites (politic websites etc.).

It's really stupid, the guy/woman who made this law should be shot dead and buried alive.

wow. that explains on why thc took down most of their tools and papers..especially since i wanted a copy of THCHydra. i still keep some of the papers.

honestly, this sort of law is kinda like a Khmer Rouge / Mao/ Stalin style oppression. They kill anyone they just didn't like to get control. The way they wanted to control everything down to linux distros is sorta like killing anarchy where everyone profits just to satisfy certain individuals.

this is all bs, dude. It needs to be revised.

It's what happens when people with limited technical knowledge make laws on technical subjects. Indeed, their government is a bunch of paranoid kids..

Also; I heard their are plans for similar laws in other parts of Europe, also in UK..

Please skip NL!

yeah skip NL.but prolly our highest political party, will bend over, and take the laws, like all the others do.and what if?are they gonna arrest everyone that owns a copy of nmap?or thc hydra?or whatever? then they also might wanna consider, buiding jails, instead of new houses? because they'll be needing them i guess… All this bullshit comes from america. With their gay anti terrorism bill :S there is just 1 person that should be publicly hang, and show that on the 8'o clock news, and that would be your friendly neighbourhood uncle bush :S thats what you would call Uberhitler 2007.dictating the world n shit.:vamp: doing as he f'in pleases.wtf?we all stand, looking at it,pointing fingers, and do NOTHING!

Germany made those laws, Bush didn't force them to do shit. I find it really funny that he became the scapegoat…

ghost's Avatar

we will never know if bush had something to do with that. i mean, he can get anything with a little "gentle" persuasion. when you have enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world, im sure people would take your advise a little more seriously.

i dont think that they see the big picture with these laws. its not just "hacking" programs they are banning, its security tools that will stop their economy from taking a bashing.

@spyware "shot dead and buried alive." interesting…

So Bush is going to blow Germany up if they don't outlaw "hacking" tools?
