Microwaves

This is completely unrelated to anything with computers.. well it is at the moment anyway… but yea I'm working on a project and ran across the idea… It happens. Enough rambling, I'm curious to know if any of you know how to create microwaves, not the oven but the waves themselves. I've tried googling and that didnt help at all.. and I really don't feel like tearing apart a microwave oven to see if that would help.

If my limited physics education serves me correctly, you'd need some kind of coil, a large current to hook up to the coil (probably via some big caps to get the requisite amount of current flowing for a decent sized burst.)

If I remember correctly, which I'm not sure I do, there are quite a few parameters to tweak to get the right amplitude and frequency of the waves produced by your coil. Voltage, current strength, diameter and number of turns in coil etc/ If I happen across an equation I'll post it.

You do NOT "create" waves. You generate them.

The waves in the microwave are generated and controlled (either by power, or enclosing boundaries).

In the case of the microwave spectrum, you will have a:

1GHz (30cm) to 300Ghz (1mm) range of frequencies.

Now, to be more specific, you have to comprehend that the MICROWAVE (oven/box) warms food at:

2450MHz or 2.45GHz (a wavelength of 12.24 cm).

Read up on "dielectric heating" for more information on how food is prepared in a microwave.

If you want to get into something more fun, try "Embedded System Hacking" which relies mostly on C Programming. Then, you'll be able to control the functioning of the microwave itself by re-programming the Monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs).

I don't know how to digitize the hardware into software …. If you come across a method to do so, or make it teleport, then I'll definately get it to you in a jiffy.

I couldn't find the equation I was thinking of, but if you are looking to generate microwaves (or generic RF/EM waves) I guess looking up antenna and how they work etc would be a place to start

hmm… now thats a new one ill have to test it once i get me microwaves… im gonna get 2 or 3 to play with ^_^

Stand a match upright in blu tack, or anything else that doesn't absorb much of the egy (has little carbon)

the tray part of a matchbox works well…. light it

turn on the miorcrowave.. it will generate a ball of plamsa. you may have to hove it around abit to find a hotspot, (point of positive interferencebetween waves)
