The best thing you could do is dont! vista is bad! …. lol

Download an ISO burner and burn the vista ISO file to a CD and then put it in to your CD drive and reboot, make sure that your CD drive is set as the first boot device and then Vista should boot up.

For more info use google.com a.k.a God.

Relentless.

thanks R3l3ntl3ss for your information, can you tell me why window vista is that bad?

Well I'm sure it's not too secure, has lots of bugs, probably still lacks with it's program compatibility. When I used it it wasted like half or more of my ram at all times, my friends as well…just lots of things :p. All features stolen from linux(and beryl), and mac btw..don't think there's too much if anything original at all.

Nicely said paradox :D

We had a thread like this before and i described Vista like this:

"It is like dressing up dung in a posh suit and bow tie, it looks nice but underneath it is a smelly, dirty unbearable mess!"

It has so many bugs, things randomly crash and shutdown. Sometimes it try's to go on standby…wait it gets worse standby doesnt work so it just goes "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" and i am not joking it actually makes that noise untill i manually turn off my computer. And my computer is not bad (take a look here :P)

How microsoft gets away with releasing something so bad…and oh, oh everytime you try and do !ANYTHING! it asks you 12,000,000 times if it is ok to do that! (you can turn this off though but still if you do you lose any security in IE) xD bombs microsoft! lol :P

Ok there are good points about Vista (dont pass out) :

  1. It is DirectX 10 Compatible
  2. It is optimized for dual core

So you could get better performance from it but untill Crysis comes out whats the point? xD

Hope this helped :P

Relentless.

I can understand why you think that. But i have tested vista for a while now and speak from experience in using it. At the end of the day the only way you are going to know if you like it is if you try it. Its simple and easy to use with 4 good reasons to use it.

  1. mentiond above
  2. mentioned above
  3. Simple
  4. Compatible with everything

Relentless.

i agree vista at least so far is secure enough for anyone's needs

it has lots of neat improvements over xp sidebar gadgets better file searching specially on the start menu

im yet to find a program that ran on xp that doesn't on vista, the drawbacks are that a clean vista installation will take 500 ram just to run and u will never reach that on xp..

im running xp with gentoo on my desktop and vista with backtrack on my laptop. so far i haven't found a reason to downgrade it..

markup(then again haven't found a reason to upgrade the desktop.. =) )

Visual Studio 2005 doesn't run correctly on Vista. It will start, but no templates.

Some Nvidia drivers don't work on Vista, last I heard.

It's not a case where you have to prove whether or not something DOES work… it's a case where it doesn't make sense to upgrade until you KNOW your programs will work. The number of incompatible applications should be decreasing as companies push out Vista patches for their appz.

stitchup wrote: There's nothing (i've found) wrong with Vista. I'm running a custom version. It's fast, pretty secure behind a decent hardware firewall and good looking.Don't listen to these people who just follow the example of "Oh yeah Vista sux, we should kill micr0s0ft" because they are usually the ones who don't know shit.

I could put a Windows 95 box behind a decent hardware firewall and keep it pretty secure. Sure, Vista is good looking… for the people who have the 1028Mb RAM and 128Mb minimum video card to use Aero and Flip3D. As for fast… my XP box tweaked to the max still knocks the brake shoes off of Vista, running the Classic theme! Not impressed.

Don't assume that everyone who talks bad about Vista doesn't know what they're talking about… or that they just automatically hate Microsoft. Assuming that and making the completely unfounded (and, in some cases, uncertain) statements that you made means you know about as much shit as the people you criticize.

Vista has its plusses and minuses. In terms of new features, the most impressive features have to be the system application security, the inclusion of .Net 3.0, and the advent of IIS7 (also known as IIS.Net). In fact, that last part alone is what keeps me excited about Longhorn Server; crossing Server 2003 and IIS7 is definitely something to get excited about.

As far as the minuses, they have been mentioned in the forums… even if people are "jumping on the 'Vista sux' bandwagon", they're on the right side for now. Microsoft has to push out service packs, patches, and updates to make Vista viable for practical use.

Sorry for the long post, but some of us do know what we're talking about.

well i also know what im talking about my post did't say it was better than xp but like you said lots of people got hung up on this vista sucks and i like to point out that that's not completely true.. in fact i remember people saying the same about xp (me included) when it came out.

it'll take some more months maybe an year before it's a real alternative.

but for us that try every linux distro that comes out i don't see the point on not trying out vista as well.

Well, it's been established that everyone has their preference… now that everyone has made a point (including myself) of attacking or defending Vista, could we actually get back to the original question?

What do you mean by making a "bootable DVD"? Do you have a Vista ISO and you're planning to burn it? Use Nero or Roxio or Alcohol 120.

Do you have a Vista DVD? Copy it with Nero or Roxio or Alcohol 120.

Clarify exactly what assistance you're looking for, and I'm sure someone can help.

Never said you didn't… that was directed at the person who posted before you and talked about the ones that "don't know shit".

XP did suck compared to 2000 when it first came out. Like you said, it will take time and effort (and updates and service packs) from MS.

I agree with trying out Vista… I don't agree with anyone who has replaced XP with Vista. Not yet, at least. It's good to have a reliable OS, just in case.

That had absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the discussion, stfu and stop being a retard.

I've just bought my new laptop, which comes with Vista. It's fine as far as security is concerned (UAC gets really annoying though), but loads of programs refuse to work on it.

Photoshop and Nmap are 2 programs that work great on XP, but refuse to work properly under vista. Nmap gets killed by the OS after it starts scanning because it "has stopped working".

Other than that though, it's just as good as XP
