HomeBrew and Wine
So i was wondering how many of you guys if any make your own beer, wine, ect? I mostly make wines. Ports, Sherrys, and Ices. I occasionaly make a wine cooler for my mom of sorts. I can also make soda, which is usually root beer, or sasperilla spelling? anyways yea tell me if you do and your tricks and tips -Hackthis59-
Get a big 10GAL jug, get ALOT of self-grown grapes (should look purple-red) and any other "substitutive" type of alcohol (like when you add vodka to pepsi - that would kinda be substitutive). Mash the grapes really good, mix with some water or a shatload of the substitutive and leave them in the 10GAL jug for at least a month.
That there my friends is the brew of Sub-ALCH (short for substituted alcohol) and I created it as I went along. XD
i use to make peach snapps in my room, but i soon gave that up. had a whole homemade brewing system in my room i designed myself, with tubes, ballons and a 5 litre container.
pro's: it looked cool having a bewing system in my room cheap could get light headed just by sitting next to my bewing kit!
con's: my room stank of alchol and yeast the bewing system occasionally exploded 1 sip of the end result could give someone stomach cramps within 5 mins. probably got alchol poisining
so yeah, if your gonna do it…. do it right, not the way i did it!
why not do it in your house? Thats where i do mine. I for one have wine kits, and usually do them from that. And then i have hops that i use to use, but since the move i havent been able to re-plant them :( i have also made from grapes thats the best. I think for the best kind of wine. You have to let it set for at least 6 months. within that time i transfer it a couple of times. So whats everyones favorite kind of wine. Mine is port.

HAHAHA!:D Occasionally exploded and gave you intense stomach cramps…Yeah I guess those are some definite cons.
Seriously, though, I've never actually done my own brewing, but have always meant to try it. My father and uncle used to do it all the time, but most of their stuff came out like crap.

Probably got some methanol in there. That stuff is poison. Best way to get rid of that is to boil the end result for awhile (or distill it ;) ). Methanol has a lower boiling point than ethanol.
