Lockpicking

I've read some guides on lockpicking and even watched a video. I've studied what tools I need and how to use them but I just keep f'ing up and I can't figure out what's wrong.

I've kept trying and I feel like the 1st pin and the 3rd pin (3rd pin is right before the driver) are the ones that slide down the easiest so I'm thinking there the ones being used the most because pressure on the springs would cause an easier slide resulting in the spins going down and the lock sliding into place then becoming unlocked after being turned.

But this is a very small ACE Hardened lock and my torque wrench doesn't even fit it (flathead screwdriver..paper clips) so I can't quite use that to turn this lock. Basically, I need suggestions on other materials that will allow me to pass over the 2nd pin without pushing down on it, so I can reach the 1st and 3rd pins to release the lock.

So far I'm using paper clips and they don't seem to be sturdy enough, and keep bending because there is a serious disadvantage in picking this lock due to it's size.

Any suggestions are welcome. :|

lmao! I just ordered lock picks like a week ago! :D

screw that homemade stuff, it's a lot harder…go to a grocery store, buy a visa giftcard, and order the lockpicks from the internet to your house…easiest thing I've ever done :)

I have 2 debit cards with a total of about $100, but ordering lockpicks under the age of 18 is illegal and I'm not quite set on breaking that law until I have some experience under my belt.

Suggestions are still welcome.

(skunkfoot..get on aim dude)

I can't, gotta type a research paper..

and I ordered lockpicks and throwing knives and I'm 16.

look, if you don't wanna order them, go to the nearest locksmith and tell him you want to become a locksmith when you grow up because you like helping people who are in trouble. Ask him if you can get a set of lock picks and a practice lock :D

Nick skunk is right pro tools are so much easier but if you want you could go back to basics. Go buy some jewellers screwdrivers and rake the pins while applying some pressure from a piece of sheet metal in the lock and it will eventually have them all set.

Show me exactly what items you bought and how they are legal at your age.

remember, lock picks are just specifically-shaped chunks of metal, why would they be illegal? Breaking into houses is illegal, but I don't think carrying metal is though…

Yeah ive seen the same thing before its illegal to possess lockpicks in public in some parts of america but havin them at your house is not illegal besides a cop ait gunna pull you up and go "hey turn out your pockets i have a feeling your carrying lockpicks"

haha yeah…I think I read that you can't carry lockpicks unless you're a locksmith or something like that, but are you really gonna follow all those rules just because they tell you to?

Well, it's illegal in my state to purchase this kind of material under the age of 18.

Legal Terms of Sale

The lock entry tools we offer are not for sale to the general public and are available for sale to professionals only! All other products are available to the general public.

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE TO ORDER! It is the sole responsibility of the BUYER (not LockPicks.com and/or its employees; nore the employees, officers, board members, or stock holders of its parent) to ascertain and obey all applicable Federal, State, and Local Laws regarding possession and use of item(s) sold herein. Consult your Federal, State, and Local Laws before ordering. By placing an order the buyer certifies that; he or she is of legal age; and that the item(s) will be used only in a lawful manner. LockPicks.com and/or its employees; and/or the employees, officers, board members, and/or stock holders of its parent assumes no liability associated with product usage. The buyer is liable and responsible for any loss, damage or expense of any kind, arising from the use or misuse of any item sold herein. Furthermore, by placing an order the BUYER certifies that LockPicks.com, its employees and/or the officers, board members, and/or stock holders of its parent will be acting in a lawful manner as described under U.S.C. Title 39 Section 3002a when mailing "locksmith entry tools" to the buyer, i.e. buyer certifies that he/she/it is one or more of the following: a bona fide locksmith; lock distributor (contractors often fall into this category); bona fide repossessor; motor vehicle dealer; lock manufacturer; or a motor vehicle manufacturer;, law enforcement officer; active duty military; a bona fide fire fighter; a bona fide purchaser for one of the aforementioned; and/or a customer who will have this purchase shipped outside the United States, its possession, or territories; and/or a customer who is purchasing items that are not "locksmith entry tools." LockPicks.com or its parent will not deliver any locksmithing device through the mail to a person who cannot certify that he/she/it falls into one of the aforementioned categories.

There is a Terms of Sale agreement I've found at http://www.lockpicks.com/ , I want to purchase something at that website but due to the terms I cannot. Therefore, I prefer not to break the law just so I can learn how to break into things and get my ass thrown in jail by them tricky feds. ( XD )

So please, if you can provide a legal way of purchasing lock picks ( or throw knives - that was cool lol ) then please present it. Otherwise, don't post again. :matey:

I want to be able to pick any lock in under a 1 minute time span. I'm looking into becoming professional at this.

I live in Maine.

xD

under a minute isn't easy…try buying a pickgun, they're supposed to work faster.

And if your dream is to be a locksmith, are you really gonna let some gay law prevent you from reaching that dream?

LOL a lock in under 1 minute. Its very possible depending on what type of lock. I can do a 6 pin tumbler in 45 seconds by sticking to the rake and set with a torque wrench. I'm moving on to combo locks they're hard considering i have to use my modified drill to drill the middle of the dial.
