Windows Vista
Well, im just curiouse. I just got a whole new setup and everything. Its got Window's Vista, not exactly EVERYTHING (never is,lol) they made it out to be, but still pretty awsome. i love the new interface, and with my Core 3 extreme proccessor the amazing speed. So far no probs. Just curiouse who else has it and what they think of it thus far. If you've had any problems etc.
I downloaded the RTM version from the MSDN a while back, and installed it on a new partition. It lasted all of 2 hours, while I was on the phone to Belkin, finding out why my wireless card didn't work. Turned out their driver wasn't compatible with Vista, and they have no plans to make it compatible.
Put simply:
No wireless = Not worth keeping = Deleted.
On another note, it DOES look good.

I tried to install the driver for the F5D7050, and it said "cannot install <some_driver_shit>". Belkin had no clue about the error. I even tried the drivers on a friend's Vista installation, with no luck.
Ah well, good 'ol XP for me…
i just bought a box off of one of my friends, who had originally planned for it to be an XP machine when he built it, but had an extra license for VISTA Premium and went ahead and installed that when i bought the comp. its only an AMD 64 X2 3800+, 1 gig dual channel ram , 120gig sata2 HDD, and no video card!!!! and it runs premium like a champ! could definitely use another gig of ram though. but i have no probs what so ever.
as far as compatibility issues :
hard to network with my XP machines needed to down load 300+ megs of special install program for my new printer ,,, HP
and for programs: like my friend says if it doesnt work in vista regularly ** try it as an administrator ** and that usually works
exe. .. it was telling me that there was an error during setup when i was installing office 07' but problem was fixed when i selected to install as admin.
i have a wireless nic on it also (its a desk top) and a linksys wifi router down stairs and have had no problems getting them to connect the router is upgraded to dd-wrt.
A bunch of graphical crap. I have a skin for XP that uses the "Aero"(that's what it's called, right?) theme from Vista. As for security, so f*cking what. Now they have an annoying ass message everytime something happens? Most people are going to be turning that off. The only good thing i've seen incorporated into Vista is the virtual registry. Other than that, no improvement i care about at all.
two reasons why i would consider getting it:
- Voice recognition
- DirectX 10
I've gone without voice recognition since i got a computer 5 years ago. It simply would be a nice thing to have. Someone will make DirectX 10 work for xp, and anyway no games work with it and wont work for a while.
Worth the price? I think not.
p.s. if any1 knows of free voice recognition, tell me please!
