Parents in E-mail...

Hey, my mom wants my passwords to my email. She says "I'm responsible for you." I feel like she doesn't think I'm mature. I told her this but she says, "well you and your brother have been rude lately." I really don't want her reading my e-mail.

Obviously I can't just change my passwords as my mom would come get them from me again. I don't use my e-mail for anything bad but I'm uncomfortable with her in it. Any help?

I think she's intruding a bit too much on your integrity, even if she's responsible for you. Being a good parent doesn't mean that you don't allow your kids to send private mails to their friends.

You should make another email account which you do use often and don't use the one she knows the password for…

Exactly what I was going to say.

You can also do what I would do…and ask her for HER passwords. See how she would like it :D

tell her that your email is private and personal (maybe use the excuse that your girlfriend sends you private emails for no-one else to see) if that fails make another account sign up to a few rubbish websites for a newsletter so you get plenty of (junk)mail so your mum wont get suspicious due to inactivity and give her the pass to that one

Or just refuse to give it to her

1: I tried to refuse. 2: I have things going to them already so I can't do a rubbish account.

Does your mum know your addresses? If she doesn't then you could make a seperate junk one…

Or just tell her that if she wants your passwords you want to put a KeyLogger on for her :P

Or just ask your mum why? And then gradually pursuade her that she doesn't need to check your email :P A little SE is always usefull :P
