Basically, I wanted to download some games to my graphing calculator, so I Googled how to do it. I've been to http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/nonProductMulti/download_stepbystep.html?bid=2 http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/nonProductSingle/download.html As well as looked at a few yahoo answers pages. Here's what I've done:

  1. Downloaded TI Connect.
  2. Plugged in Graphing Calc with USB cable.
  3. Made sure it installed correctly, and then launched TI Connect.
  4. Clicked on TI Device Explorer, and tried to have it read my Calc.
  5. The error I get says: "Cannot find a device. Make sure your device is securely connected and turned ON. Then Press Refresh.
  6. It says its not found on ports: COM1 or COM2
  7. There's a Communication Settings button that I click and have to specify which port and type of cable I'm using. Im not sure which kind of cable, but its the default one that comes with the Calc when you buy it. I made sure its in the USB port, and refreshed, but nothing works. Can someone please help me out, I've been doing it for 2 hours. Thanks, end3r

Not to smart in this area but i say reisntall the TI content. Then make sure your computer recgonizes your calculator. Then try again. If that doesnt work i suggest you look at the website of the maker of the calc to see if they have any help or tools to use.

i tried doing that a long time ago i know this isn't helpful, but it never worked for me not to discourage you or anything, just saying, your not alone, i think the software is really screwy

btw… if its in the USB port, wouldn't it be a USB cable?

I've reinstalled it twice, and yes im using the supplied USB cable, but there's choices like USB Direct Cable, USB SilverLink, Black Cable, Grey Cable. I'd like an answer to help me, and yes believe it or not im smart enough to go to the makers website. end3r

I'm about to get an internship with Ti (Texas Instruments) this summer…

that's all I did in High School: make programs out of the ti-83+. I even made a code that shows the matrix hieroglyphs… in a screensaver format. I'll post it up here when I have time (and if this thread is still alive).

Have you downloaded the latest version of the software from their site? The one on the CD might have some bugs or incomability problems :right:

Is MirageOS the latest OS version? And I have the latest TI Connect version. I am running Windows XP, not a Mac. I've tried 2 different ports, 2 left, does it really matter? end3r

Well that depends on which Mirage OS version you have lol… :p

Will it affect whether or not the TI Connect software can locate which port my calc is in? The games i got from a friend work fine. end3r

I don't know. It's always good to keep updated though.

Maybe you can install the games from a friend's computer?

ticonnect is nooby trash. It never recognizes my calculator, and i have to screw with it for about half an hour. try tilp maybe?

http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tilp/

I personally havnet used anything but ticonnect, just because I never really have to put anything more on my calc… i make most of the stuff I use, and the rest has been on it for a looong time :p

good luck anyway, screw around with stuff until you get it done.

if anyone wants an emu and perhaps… how to get… a rom… what's a rom?

pm me

I'm gone from this topic but pm if you need anything, hope you get ticonnect sorted out

[edit]it may say it's a com port even if it's usb, and vice versa. It's really stupid sometimes[/edit]

both TiLP and TI-Connect have never worked for me, with their supplied cable.

very poorly made stuff, if you ask me.

and to be honest, you really don't need games on your calculator, you should be making things with your calculator :p.

get a friend who has them to link you up with one of the cables and send it to you.
