No Subject

Hey, I was gona download Unbunto http://www.ubuntu.com/ but a friend said it was bad can anybody comment on what the os is like. I would greatly apreciate it ;)

The opinions differ on Ubuntu, personally I feel that it is a very good distro for what it is….it is a linux distro meant to expose windows users to linux. It is very easy to use, the hardware detection is very good (only thing I had to install was my ATi Drivers)….the only downfall it has, pertaining to myself, is that it does not come with build-essentials. This means that by default, you cannot compile tar files….but it can easily be obtained by typing

markupsudo apt-get install build-essentials

in your shell.

also, in ubuntu you first download it to a CD and try it out see if you like it or not…and then you permanently install it to your C: drive.

i did last week and im very happy with ubuntu so far…
