Just something that was going through my head.

I was bored at school and I started thinking about things that I thought mattered, so I put them into an understandable form, hopefully it's understandable…

Anyways here goes:

Quite a few people have said "We crave freedom" but, what is freedom? Is there such a thing? Will we ever get it? The answer is simply no, no one will ever be free, there will always be limitations, rules, regulations, boundaries and so on and so forth, but why? Why must be have rules, you tell a child to follow rules, I can guarantee they'll choose to do what they want, and a lot of the time they get a way with it, so why can't we? Us hackers are trapped in a world with rules, and if we choose to bend those rules to benefit us, we are victimised when the government don't even follow these so called rules that they themselves are setting, so, if the said government are allowed to choose not to follow rules, why should anyone else be different? Isn't that discrimination against pretty much everyone? Yes, yes it is, but do they care? No, they do not! And why do they not care? Because of this, they get paid to bend the rules, they get paid to discriminate, they get paid to hate, they do not care about anyone or anything, as long as it does not stain their reputation, or cause their over-sized pay check to be reduced, they will continue to ignore pleas until someone does something major. So, my fellow hackers, let's continue to fight these authorities, yes, people will go to prison, yes, people may die in prison, but, hopefully the outcome will be that we can break down these barriers and burn these documents containing these stupid rules. As long as rules and boundaries exist, rebels will also exist, as long as there is censorship and monitoring on the internet, there will be hackers. Fuck your rules, fuck your censorship, fuck every single thing you stand for. This is my world, this is my life, whilst some choose to follow your rules, I choose to ignore them, I choose my individuality instead of just following the majority.

Please comment :)

Instead of talking about freedom, talk about personal freedom. Freedom is relative to the person "using" it.

And we need rules. Not all of them, just a few. Without rules we can't live/exist. If there were no rules, chaos and hell will reign the world, and you still needed rebellions.

Nice post btw.

rules are necesary to PROTECT the FREEDOM of individuals AND of the community as a whole. although it may be annoying it is a fact that the same rules that mess with us and stop us and limit us, also serve for our interest.

without rules, anyone could take what is yours, including your life; without nobody stopping him or even thinking that it is wrong to do such a thing….

it is necessary to have boundaries in order to have freedom

Rules do NOT protect freedom, true freedom does not need rules, hence the name FREEDOM!

People rebel against rules, so without them, why would there be a need to rebel?

rules do NOT equal oppresion. therefore rules are not the opposite of freedom (oppresion is) rules are a TOOL and as any good tool, it can be used for good or for bad.

good = protecting freedom bad = oppresing people

Just for five seconds pretend HBH didn't have any rules. Think about what members were here, and what posts would be made.

I think I've made myself clear.

True, but if one person posts something that offends someone, the other person can post something back without having to worry about censorship.

And that would be a "perfect community"? Just offending each other because you can? Because you are not limited to rules?

clearly rules would help provide a perimeter in which conversation can be effective and productive…otherwise ppl wouldnt bother coming to HBH if its a place in which ppl just offend insult etc. each other endlessly

You're the one who implied the offending, I just said IF someone offended someone, this brings me to ethics, just because you don't have rules you should still keep morals and know the right things to say/do

I know, system, you would never offend anyone without a reason (right? :P). But there are enough people out there, being ignorant and irritating, they just seek destruction.

If no human was evil, your theory would be OK, but that is not the case, unfortunatly..

And that is where the rules kick in, to protect the community against those people.

its true that people should keep morals when the law isnt there to enforce them. but its impossible to expect that everyone will follow them and do the right thing. and then, when someone is going against whats ''good'' or ''moral'' and becomes oppresive, therell be a need for rules to restrain such behaviors.
