Sercurity Auditing

Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction…

I'm in college right now studying AS computing, and i really want to take a career in data sercurity, it sounds interesting. However i'm not really sure what exatly happens, or what you exactly need to know. I mean, all I know is that its hacking companies or netwrods, then telling the people you hacked how to fix it? Well maybe i'm wrong but can someone help to and tell me what I need to know. Thanks
