today i got caught with a comp virus at my school. It was on a flash drive that i lost the previous day. A kid apparently found it , ran it, and it shut down the school server. So now i am in alot of trouble. idk wut happeneds to me now, but I have to leave for awhile. Thank you Cheese for all ur help, i have learned alot, but i fear if i continue now it will only end in disaster. farewell to all at HBH, ty, and i will dearly miss everyone.

You never ran the program though, right? Wouldn't the student who ran it get in trouble, besides, it was for educational purposes. right :P ? But since you never ran it and you had no intention to either. if you live in the USA doesn't this violate one of the amendments?

Seriously, he shut down the server? What virus was it then? Or do you have physical access to the server or something? Seems weird if some kid just runs the app and the server is crashed ^^

Too bad you got into trouble, but as already said, you'll be back ;)

Good luck.

you can always claim you didnt know it was on there. you caught the virus or something….if they say otherwise….tell them to prove it

good luck.

At which point did you start the virus and send it to the server. You should not be blamed because someone else is was stupid enough to put an unknown MS into a computer

Sorry to hear your bad luck mate!

As many on here have stated you cannot get in trouble becuase someone else ran it. is there any proof that the flash drive is yours? When in doubt DENY DENY DENY man. They cannot prove you ran it(becuase you did not) so the blame is not yours. Just paste the blame on the stupid kid who ran it. Just say "I forgot my flash drive in the computer room after doing some work and he must have taken it home, uploaded a virus to it and ran it to get me in trouble."

Always works man ;)

Innocent until PROVEN guilty!

Is it illegal to keep viruses on your memory stick now? Its not as though they can prove he was planning to use it, I always assumed that what was on your memory stick was your own business.

I may be wrong about this. Ill look into this further because my MS's have always had something malicious on there that I have written at one time or another and often I accidently leave it plugged in at one of the labs where a techi will find it, but i've never been given any trouble.
