The "Just google it" remark!
Ok, as some of you my of realised, this is going to be the second instalment in the series of "Jrob's Ranks" and has been provoked by the first reply of the first rant (that somehow become anti-American and homosexual with my contribution).
You might be asking (to yourself), why now? The first rant was a year ago. Well the answer to this is that I have seen a slow increase in lazy, intelligent people using this is forum and cause me to "bang my head frequently against my deskâ€!
You my have been subjected to this in one of your thread, the “just Google it†remark and in other forms as: “Google it you moronâ€; â€f**kin’ Google it†and “if you don’t want to be Gay, Google it!â€.
Firstly, forum is a facility for holding discussions used to provide the facility. So, if you were to ask if anyone knows where something is on the Internet, you expect to be given a relevant link that will help you. Google doesn’t help you, as you don’t want to trend through hundreds of web pages until you find one.
Secondly, Google is the third most trafficked website in the world. All Internet users know about it and know of its uses. Most people try Google before asking forum, Google doesn’t help a lot of the time of specific searches, therefore it’s easier to use forums so there is no point of little dense children saying “google it.â€
Thirdly, most of the “google it†movement only use this as a sad way of gaining forum interaction and to increase there post count. If they are that pathetic that they need to say “Google It†just to have a voice on a forum, they should involve themselves in another pastime.
Special Thanks to:
Mr Cheese (had no involvement or knowledge of the thread prior to it being posted) Alexa.com (Ranks websites by traffic, HBH is 431,103 in the world) Black Panthers (Gaining more support each day) SACO (selfish reasons to stop global warming) Tommy Sheridan (Jakie Pollock Schemer)
All my thanks are COMPLETELY irrelevant, except Mr Cheese.
it'd be great to know what the fuck you're complaining about. but for now, I'll just ask you to "google" for whatever bothers you inside.
"Just google it!" lol (pardon me, but I would help if you had a relevant concern, or matter to discuss).
If you want to know why people keep referring you to google, check out: http://thechurchofgoogle.org/Scripture/Proof_Google_Is_God.html
Then proceed to look at its commandments (… you sinner!):
- Thou shalt have no other Search Engine before me, neither Yahoo nor Lycos, AltaVista nor Metacrawler. Thou shalt worship only me, and come to Google only for answers.
-
Thou shalt not build thy own commercial-free Search Engine, for I am a jealous Engine, bringing law suits and plagues against the fathers of the children unto the third and fourth generations.
-
Thou shalt not use Google as a verb.
-
Thou shalt remember each passing day and use thy time as an opportunity to gain knowledge of the unknown.
-
Thou shalt honor thy fellow humans, regardless of gender, sexual orientation or race, for each has invaluable experience and knowledge to contribute toward humankind.
-
Thou shalt not misspell.
-
Thou shalt not hotlink.
-
Thou shalt not plagiarise or take undue credit for others work.
-
Thou shalt not use reciprocal links nor link farms, for I am a vengeful but fair engine and will diminish thy PageRank. The Google Dance shall cometh.
-
Thou shalt not manipulate Search Results. Search Engine Optimization is but the work of Microsoft.

I apologise if my wording of this thread is confusing, but to be fair, it’s two o’clock in the morning and I’ve (for some reason) become an insomniac over the last few days.
First let me clarify, I love google, I think it’s a god-send. This thread is a rant about the people on forums who post “just google it†on forums when someone asks a questions.
Cause that make it more clear?
The only time I say google it is if it is the first link found.
I try to help all questions that I know. I give links to places that are of use and relevance. Although, there is that one question like "teach me to hack" that I cant help but say, "www.google.com for all your questions".
Google is the best, in my opinion, but, I do try to help before I refer people there.

If something isn't in google, it doesn't exist.
If something doesn't exist, how are we supposed to awnser the question?
Most questions can be redirected to google, and, you'll see, it gives you the awnser straight away.
Only "personal" questions can't be awnsered on google (ie. "What do you guys think of the update on program XXXXX?")
When people ask a question, they should state they already tried google, that solves the problem.
teh mighty jrob strikes again with a rant. If you want to understand why he hates the google it comment you really should read his last rant: http://hellboundhackers.org/fusion_forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=14&thread_id=324&rowstart=0

God's reply made no sense and was only posted as a way of increasing his post count. It made no sense to the question I asked. I ask for the people of HBH's opinions, I can't google that. If I googled that, it would come up wiht nothing. I don't even know what I'd be googling.
OMGOD HIGH FIVE I LOVE YOU KAY THANX.
Okay, so there may be one or two times where the answer really could have been googled for, but 99% of the times, people say "just fuckin google it" cause they don't know the answer themselves.
Discussion forums are meant for people to help eachother out. I don't think I've seen anybody actually answer a newbs question on the HBH forums in the past couple months… :|

I think someone should write a book on "HOW-TO use Google Correctly" or make an ebook. So instead of saying "F*CKING GOOGLE IT" you can just link them to the ebook :-)
It seems like a good idea and it might help few people.
