Wireless netwroks/wardriving
I've been brought out wardriving once (I really didn't do anything) but the person I was with had a number of programs. I am not wuite sure hat they were, but I am rather sure of what they did. I know one he has was netstumbler to seek out wireless networks. Basically, we found good ones that looked default names with more than likely default passwords. We found an insane one in an abondoned building and connected. Question- What program did he more than likely use, and how does it work? So anyways. Were connected now and surfing the web. We check out a website or two, but during this time, the network is trying to find us. He had this program that sort of looked like an IRC client, and it showed everything happening like a logger, and every so often, his ip address would change and the opposing system had to restart the trace. Question- Same as before. And last but not least, he wanted to go, er, whitehat I guess, by changing the password. (okay, we switched to a different building. Apartment) Question- How did he get in and how was he able to do so? (btw, he said it was wh because as soon as we were finished they came out of the building- went to a store- reset the password- changed the password- and encrypted it, so that bad peoples couldn't get in. oh ya, and he did that connect on his old neighbour who thought hackers should die) And lastly, what if the password wasn't set to default? is there another way of getting in? (just to use the net on the road)
