Don't you have the feeling that there is a weird conspiracy going on at school against us to minimize our knowledge??

Too easy to get admin password….

Teacher doesn't know what URL stands for… Never heard the word "Warez"…. Doesn't want us to run linux!!!!!!!!

Computer lab attendant scared of pop-up messages and of computers in general… [ computerphobia?? New pathology???]

No-one in my school is allowed near the computers unless it's absolutely vital for a class, and there's no computer class so the computers just make the school look good. We also share a 512kbps connection between 30 computers in the tech room and another 3-4 in the offices

i actually know exactly what you mean, my bloody school kill anything remotely fun… but theyre apache server is the most insecure thing ever… they leave the passwords in a file accessable to any in a shared drive under Apache<setup<data…. wtf. lol

Arg… I remeber sitting through a whole hour of my ICT teacher explaining how to use Dreamweaver…..

I was going to kill myself !!! It was so slow going, the teacher taught us as if we had never seen a computer before :| It was like "now, click thew icon that says Dreamweaver… thats right. Now, don't do anything else untill everyones done"

After that lesson, the rest was ok :) We were left to make a website, on any subject we chose, so we could get used to the features on Dreamweaver :D

But, I do remeber once when I unplugged a keyboard…. I did it to someone I don;t like much, through a window, just to piss them off. Half an hour through the lesson I get called out by a teacher, wanting to know if I did it. Apparently, it took about 20 minutes for the ICT Teacher to figure out what had gone wrong.

What was worse, was my completly computer illiterate maths teacher (i did this "terrible crime" in the maths department"). According to him, I could have killed myself and the person using the computer. The "cord could have arched across the computer and killed the person using it".:vamp:

It was a fucking keyboard wire !

{rant over, sorry if it didnt make much sense}

yeah….that's it!!!

in fact…in a sense we know much more than our ICT teachers

Why go to school????

F*ck!! The worse thing is the computer room's attendant!!

The only thing he does is swith on and off pcs… Wonder why he works there.. Maybe there is an unnatural relationship between him and the computers… He looks like a pervert anyway!!!

Well actually the security of my school website is based on base64 encryption and the password are stored encrypted md5 in the cookie. Actually when you manage to steal someone cookie it take a second to decrypt the password. Password are like [4 letter of your name][4 random number].

Also the school system is Sun, witch is similar or same thing as Linux.

There used to be programming course in option but it was only html coding, witch is really too easy. Now it's removed from the program.

The guy who "turns on and off" our computers spends all day looking at porn on the crappy windows 95 computer in the back corner.

well..some of us don't have the chance to run LINUX at school, even if we want to. Stupid teachers say NO. To Mac or not to Mac? They answer : "huh?"

Last year I was supposed to learn how to

  1. "Press the start button to turn on the computer"
  2. "Double-click on icons"
  3. "Write in Microsoft Word"

beat that one ^^ :D

For most of this year, i've been putting up with a teacher who specialises in Maths, but tries to 'look good' in the IT department. So far, this semester, all i have done in class is read HBH, look for various documents i may be interested in. Thank god she's been away for three weeks, but when i get back from holidays, she'll be expecting a shitload of work that i havn't even started :)

In a few lines, i guess you could say: she loves pythagoras, doesn't know shit all about HTML, or any other languages for that matter, and she generally doesn't know what she's doing.

So fucking annoying :) -Jay.

My present lab teacher are a bit smarter tho .. they let us run the linux but through shell accounts connecting through telnet to the server … they also protected web sites from being reached through any methods .. I absolutely tried many methods .. Finally

I came up with Kproxy.com which was also blocked but had to add a 's' next to http so that it wud become https://www.kproxy…. and yay every site is accesible …

Most students use it now lol ..

I think this is the unofficial 'my teacher knows this much about computers'-thread :right:
