HBH Zine Donationathon

The HBH Zine has a great future, but we can only get there with the help and support of our followers and readers.

The larger HBH Zine grows, the better off we will be.

The thing we want the most right now.. is a printed magazine that you can go to a local store or something, and see it on the shelves. Wouldnt that just be too awesome? It would be a dream come true for me and hack4u atleast.

The main thing we lack, is a constant financial support. We dont make much money from the zine, we arnt expecting too.. but we are hoping to make enough to where we can get printing in production.

We need sponsors! If you have contacts with any type of corperation or business, please see if they will sponsor us! HBH Zine is a growing magazine.

We are also accepting if anyone is feeling generous, donations to paypal. Even if its just a dollar, it helps. My paypal adress is: frozenflamehbh@yahoo.com You can pay by paypal, credit card, debit card, bank transfer, etc. Its a business account so it accepts them all.

Sponsors get advertisement space in the magazine.

If you dont know anyone to help us get sponsored, and cant make a donation, theres still something you can do!

Please spread the url around (http://www.hbhzine.com) to anyone you know. In forum signatures, profiles, myspace, email sigs, neighbors, diggnation, anyone and anything. The larger we get, the easier this whole process should be.

With that said.. i would like to announce the release of issue 2 for HellBound Hackers Magazine, is Friday! September 1st.

Be sure to pick up your copy. We will have links in the news, the downloads, at both HBH and HBHZine.

This a packed issue, over 35 pages and diffrent page designs on each. There isnt anything like clothes so dont get all "im not reading a hacking magazine with a fasion section" type. We were just testing a few things out.

Well im very excited and im looking forward to a great issue release, hopefully doubling our first issues, first week download which was about 400.

Once again, thankyou for supporting us over these months of production, if it wasnt for your guys support.. the magazine probably wouldnt exist.. or be even half as good as it is today.

Spread the word of HBH Zine! -Frozen Flame

When you say a business to sponsor the zine, do you mean like giving money to them? Or simply setting up a printed version of the zine in their store? My friend owns a computer store and he would probably distribute it at his store.

Ill have to talk it over tomorow with hack4u.. cause im not entirely sure how it works myself to be honest..

but i believe teh best way is to have them pay for the production, and they sell it to stores like.. barnes n nobles, or bestbuy or something like that.

In general, the ones who pay for production, get the money they make from selling it to the vendors, and we get a small percentage to ensure the survival of hbhzine and such. We provide a product, they provide the production and marketing, they make profit and promote their business etc, we get a little also. Sound right?

we buy it from u for a set amount and we get what we bought and sell it to vendors i think i could do that myself i would buy thm from u and try and get them out to vendors if u wanted to try that

That actually might work. Like i said ill have to talk with hack4u more in depth about this.

This wont be happening over night, we have plenty of time to think this over and find a sponsor, but we gotta start sometime, you know?

hack4u, when you read this, check the admin lounge at zine for the news on pricing and stuff i read up on.

As for others.

The more magazines we order, the cheaper they are to produce. And if the value of production for a single magazine goes below a dollar.. or near it.. The company sponsoring us can make quite a bit from selling to vendors.

Im thinking thats how we are going to do it. Our sponsors order X ammount of magazines from us, we process the order, have sponsors pay for it.. sponsors get shipped the load, and it is then in the hands of those people. They can charge what they want withen reason for profit of course.. dont want to charge 20$ for a magazine where normal store mags only cost like.. 7 or 8 right?

And the sponsor will have a printed advertisement in the magazine.

Point, of the 400 downloads in the first week. How many could you distribute to? Your not going to sell them in Guernsey and I guess if its only one person per shop nowheres going to stock it

but id like to point out that the ppl who read the zine were either members of HBH HTS EG or Hack4u. Those 4 websites. Now if they are printed more ppl will come across them next to their ususal 2600 mag and maybe buy those as well. Thers only about 5 2600 mags per store. And sometimes they get sold out.

So think about it. Then after reading it HBH will grow itself from ppl who came here cuz of a magazine.

:D HBH WILL RULE THE WORLD

I think SwiftNomads idea could work most effectively.

Members buy in bulk then distribute to shops etc.

eg. I would buy 100. Sell 25 to one shop, 25 to the other and so on.

It is getting distributed and a way of making money

You would still need a printer to get those copies printed out.

(and are you sure you know 100 local people who would buy HBH Zine)

ghost's Avatar

They get printed with the money you buy the 100 copies.

And I'm sure many computer stores would. If you gave them a free batch and look into working with them then it could pay off in the long run.
