need help setting up a linux box

Hey I've just recently (finally) procured a pc of my own, which has no enabled me to look into setting it up as a linux box as the computer i used before was a family computer and my mom wouldn't let me touch it…Regardless, I've read around and, as far as I can tell, one can test out a distribution by making a live cd out of it. I downloaded a .iso of morphex, opened it, and copied everything inside onto a cd. When i tried to boot from disk, it failed. Is my approach too simplistic? Is there more to this than just burning a cd?

Please help, I'd very much appreciate it =)

i think you need to burn the cd as an image. if you dont have nero.. find a demo and try. and burn the entire .iso not the contents.

Bah, forget that LiveCD crap, just pick a distro that you like (I'm a Red Hat fan), and install that. Its the best way to learn.

Ubuntu rules, LiveCD of Ubuntu is what I have to use, can't install it as it's my sis's comp
